A small team with big ideas
Our Story
We're Some Kind of Software Company, a small independent studio based in the UK. Founded by two developers who believe software should be thoughtfully crafted, we focus on building apps that make a difference in people's lives. We beleive apps should stand on their own merits, and that the users are the customer, not data brokers or ad companies.
We're not trying to be the biggest, we're trying to be the best at what we do. Every feature, every view, every interaction is considered and refined.
Our first product, FoxFit, came from our own frustration with existing workout apps. We couldn't find one that was private, well-designed, and focused on what actually matters: tracking your workouts without judgement and without pushing add-on services.
So we built it ourselves.
How We Build Software
We've been developing for twenty years and we've seen a lot of change in this time. Today we use AI tools extensively in our development process. We work with agents to write much of our code. We make the product decisions, define requirements, review ouptups, and run rigorous testing.
This isn't about cutting corners; each feature we build goes through code reviews, is covered by automated tests, and goes through multiple iterations before release. The AI handles transcription from intent to code. We provide the judgment, quality control, and accountability.
We're transparent about this because we believe it's the right way to build software today. The value we provide isn't typing syntax, it's knowing what to build, and when it's ready to ship. That judgment is ours. The tools just help us work (much) faster.

We'd rather build one great app than ten mediocre ones. Every feature is considered, every interaction refined. We take our time to get things right.

Your data is yours. We build our apps with privacy as a foundation, not an afterthought. No tracking, no data sales, no compromise.
User-Centred Design
We listen to the people who use our software. Every feature exists because real users asked for it, not because investors demanded "engagement metrics".
Sustainable Software
We're not chasing growth at all costs. We build software that we can maintain and improve for years to come, with a business model that respects both us and our users.
Supporting Independent Software
When you buy our apps, you're supporting independent software development. No venture capital demanding we "grow at all costs". No advertising networks tracking your data. Just a small team making software we're proud of, in a sustainable way.
We're not trying to become a "platform" or get acquired. We're building tools we want to use ourselves, and we hope you'll find them useful too.
